Introduction

In this chapter:

We are going to introduce twenty common words in spoken Chinese and their shumianyu equivalents.

We will focus on some commonly seen words from the "basic essentials," as the well-known shumianyu phrase 衣食住行 yīshízhùxíng is translated. The four characters stand for clothing, food, shelter, and transportation.
