Synonyms

The following five groups are lists of synonym words classified by parts of speech. These words can be translated into the same English word but depending on the situation, either a formal or informal term will be used. We use three terms to distinguish these words: kǒu for spoken used in informal speech, zhèng for formal speech and written, and shū for written. Please note that one, a shumianyu word can be used in formal speaking situations, two, the context must be taken into consideration to determine which word to use.
