Chinese Literacy Vol. 1

Setting Up a Study Plan

  1. Learn 50 characters per week, ten each day from Monday through Friday.

  2. If you're taking a beginning-level course, create a 7-column character learning chart for your textbook characters.

  3. Study the 1,000 characters in the order of frequency ranking.

  4. Study and review each 100 characters as a unit.

  5. Go through learning steps 1-4 for each character.

  6. Pay special attention to the word compound examples. Read each word compound aloud, and practice writing it 5-10 times.
